It sounds to me like a digital link issue to me. This might be why they
say the transmitters are fine. Of course nobody actually listens to it and
even if they do, they probably would not know where to start looking for
the issue.

Well they might not even be aware of short term dropouts. Problem is
these days theres hardly anyone left at the BBC to handle such
complaints!.
