I have tried that. But find that the materials tend to make it awkward.
There is a tendency for the metal not 'wet' or 'tin'. And since they
weren't designed for soldering I find the plastic tends to deform unless I
can solder *very* quickly and easily... which the difficulty tinning tends
to make hard. Alas, my soldering ability (and eyesight) aren't that good
these days. Age and lack of practice.
It is something I can do if necessary, but tends to end up with my using up
a lot of plugs and bad language. :-)
I do still have and use ye olde leddie solder, though.
