A problem is that in some cases I have a reprint of a review, but
*not* an actual copy of the magazine. In some cases I don't even know
the issue or have ever seen the magazine! So I'm wondering if someone
can help.

A guess that I'd think you may have thought of - the British Library?
Has newspapers back to the 15C - should just about cover the Armstrong
era? :-)

The problem is that I'm not going to be able to visit the BL and I doubt
they'd send the magazines to me. :-/

TBH even managing to visit the 'local' Museum I've been to is difficult for
me. And its only about 25 miles away. BL is probably 400+ miles from me.
