Noticed that Maplin charge 36p for one resistor that I pay 1.20 for 100

Our factory buys resistors at 0.01 cents (one hundredth of a cent, for
clarity).
And what is the average annual value of your orders from that
supplier?
Upwards of a million

I know, but clearly they are still making a profit at that price.
There can't be so many middle men between them and Maplin. Someone
somewhere is getting very rich.
It was explained to be that Maplin charge like this to cover the cost of
the assistant walking to the shelf to get your resistor. In which case
they could sell them in packets of 10 at the same price and keep everyone
happy.
