** Common problem with high impedance mics, electric guitars and piezo transducers. The noises are due to electric charge created by bending the internal insulation and/or friction between it and the ground screen.

Some plastics are more prone that others, Teflon is a good one.


The cable is quite old now, but I'm sure it never used to do this.
