It's unlikely to be French, as they have nothing on 252kHz - but it
could be Algerian, from Topaza (right on the Mediterranean coast). I can
sometimes hear it (sounds zero-beat) - especially if I don't orientate
the radio to null it out. However, could be the second harmonic of the
local oscillator beating with a medium wave station? My small Eton E5
portable benefits from this 'feature'!
