It's a nice idea, but to be honest it's more realistic that I will
successfully find something second-hand... hence my question whether
anyone knows of a model similar to the one pictured

Ebay would be the obvious place to look for used speaker stands for
the model you have. Just how often such things come up I have no
idea, since you've not given the make of the speakers.

Are speaker stands generally speaker-specific? I gave the size (a
footprint of 20cm wide by 18cm deep) but if the speaker model helps
too, they are Royd Coniston R speakers.

But I'd be surprised if there were stands made specially for those
speakers.

Yes, me too - although that photo suggests a tight fit, maybe
coincidence. Do reviews list stands they used?

FWIW, they look a bit to me like Heybrook stands.

As others have said - ebay, with a saved search, tight parameters and
email notification. I've got a few things that way - sometimes waiting a
year or more. From a quick look the Linn Kan stands currently listed
don't look far off.

I'd not be too keen on a speaker which simply sat on a stand. I'd want it
secured in some way - enough to stop a small knock or vibration etc moving
it. And not all would want to screw into the case.

With Speedframe, I used the type with a lip for a shelf for the top of the
'cube' so the speaker sits inside it.
