I'd not be too keen on a speaker which simply sat on a stand. I'd want
it secured in some way - enough to stop a small knock or vibration etc
moving it. And not all would want to screw into the case.
My other speakers have sat on the same stands for nearly 30 years
without mishap. I think the little spikes help.
Think I'd rather have screws than spikes. ;-)
