Can I add a headphone socket outlet ?
Just been cleaning my Cyrus 1 internals of dust & noticed a 3 pin connector
marked "Headphone" ( 0v , L , R ) . As my version doesn't have a headphone
output socket can I add one by getting an electronics shop to solder it
onto the circuit board ?

to fit, feeding each of the channels. A couple of hundred ohms is
normal. Otherwise there is no reason why this shouldn't work (other
than needing to drill a suitable hole, of course!)

My mk1 Cyrus 2 has a headphone socket on the 'backplate' under the DC
PSX input and next to the tape out sockets - this appears to be
connected to the same connector you describe. Oddly enough, it
doesn't mute the speakers when used so it's always struck me as a bit
pointless!
I've never really liked switching headphone jacks on decent amps. The
contacts are exposed and don't wipe, so they eventually go pretty
noisy and can even lose contact altogether. Far better to put a nice
heavy duty switch in the speaker lead near the amp.

Yeah, for a while I used a QED 'Headphone Controller' between the jack
and the phones. Basically just a big switch :-)

I'm looking to get one of those - you mean something like order code AV01571
from CPC?
How does this unit compare with the QED model? The first ad I saw for this
model listed the price as £54.95 inc. VAT & delivery, compared to £23.65 ex.
VAT for the one form CPC.
