Default Can ISO units be cascaded?

I have a 1996 Vectra with factory-fitted Philips CAR400 radio-cassette(ISO).
I've added a Blaupunkt 4x25w amp but now I'd like to install a CD/MP3 tuner
as well(still need access to the tapes at the moment). My question is: is it
possible to "cascade" the radio-cassette with the CD/MP3 tuner via a
splitter cable or similar? I've looked at buying a CD unit with an aux in
input at the front(was thinking of connecting a walkman there) but they all
seem a bit pricey.

Jim.

I used to use a Goodman's CD unit with an MP3 Walkman. IME front inputs are
more common in cheap units - Aiwa, Goodmans, Roadstar (they're all the same
company) - although they may not meet everyone's sound quality requirements.
Looks like the two cheapest at Argos - £69 and £89 - have front input jacks.
They are just CD though, you'd need a separate MP3 player. Of course this
could be a good thing cos if you get an MP3/cd player you're stuck burning
anything you want to listen to to CD first.

BTW if your Vectra has the same fitting as my Cavalier (see post "getting
the radio cage out of a 1991 cavalier") you might not be able to plug in
anything except a Blaupunkt or Philips without replacing the cage as well.
They don't do a front input model that I could find, and to use the rear aux
input you have to drill a hole through the cage for the wire or replace it
with an open-backed one. If I'd known that I would have taken the cage out
when I got the car and stuck with my old Goodmans :-(

HTH

Not worth the hassle, what are you going to do about speaker or amp
connections?

I was assuming if I had a splitter cable then *everything* would be
duplicated, inc speaker out connections to amp?

The power wouldn't be such a problem as the speaker connections, I have
already looked at this option as I wanted to add a DAB tuner to my existing
system.

So you'd recommend connecting the new MP3 tuner to my amp

Yes.

& using its' own
aux in(I assume that's normally at rear of unit?)
to connect the radio/cassette?

Few have a straight phono input at the rear, but yes via some optional lead
or adaptor and you will be fine.

...which you always do anyway, as the cage comes with the stereo.
