Default Installing Head Unit

Hi all.

I'm new to this game but have a good knowledge of hifi, electronics and cars
generally so I should be able to learn well. I have a Sony head unit that I
want to install into my car to replace the standard Phillips one. It is a
standard DIN bay so no modding will be required, and I am hoping that the
wiring behind the old unit will have a compatible ISO connector but I
haven't checked this out yet. I will initially be keeping the factory
speaker setup although eventually I will change them.

The car is a 97 Renault Clio, anyone had experience swapping the head unit?

What I'm after is a web site with tutorials on for fitting new head units
and sorting out the wiring. I did a quick google search and surprisingly
found nothing useful.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mark

It's on standard ISO connectors. The only minor complication is the
steering remote (if fitted), which will need an interface. Sensibly
priced interfaces are now available for most Kenwood and Sony units,
and some Pioneers.

Thanks for that. My Clio does not have the steering column controls but the
sony i'm fitting comes with its own joystick remote so i'll have to route
the control wire for that. Cheers.
