Default Sony car stereo got silent

Hi,

I have Sony car stereo (D-Bass) with 10 CD changer. Yesterday it happened
that I switched the stereo on but the was no sound from the speakers. It
looks that the Radio and CD changer works properly but for some reason
speakers remain silent.

Where should I start looking for the fault.

The cables on the back of the stereo, check the speaker (or any other) wires
haven't become disconnected. If there all OK, if you have a spare spreaker,
try that with it and see if that produces a sound.

Not trying to be silly, but you have checked the volume, and/or checked that
any telephone mute type setting is disabled?

Cheers

I checked the cables and connectors and they seem to be ok. Unfortunately,
my users manual is in German so I do not understand much about it. I did
understand that much that in troubleshooting section it recommends to check
the Mute function in case no sound from speakers. But I can not find the
Mute function on it. If there is anyone with the users manual or similar
player, could you please check from the users manual where the Mute fuction
is hided. Stereo is SONY XR-C33R model.

Same thing happened to mine the other day, No sound from front and rear
speakers, only from sub which was connected to amp outputs on stereo. Good
excuse to add an extra amp and run the speakers on an amp instead of the
headunit if you ask me!
