Default 406 CD/radio

Having trouble with a non original CD/radio in my X reg 406. The radio
station memory blanks every time the ignition is turned off. Anyone know why
or know where i can get a second hand original fit CD?

Sounds like whoever wired it up only connected it to the switched power
(from the ignition) and not a continuous feed from the battery.

Most headunits have a red wire which should be connected to the switched
live from the ignition, and a yellow wire which should go to the continuous
battery feed. This allows it to receive power when the ignition is off so
the memory settings are retained, and also so you can operate the unit with
the ignition off (on most anyway).

Check the wiring, and see if it's been connected to the car's loom properly
(using an ISO connector, and possibly a loom adaptor), or just wired
directly to the car's wiring. If it's the second, I'd suggest checkig the
Haynes manual (if they've produced them yet) to check the colour-coding for
the switched (ignition) feed and continuous (battery) feed, and check
they're wired to the HU's red and yellow wires.

Cheers
