Install Question
Cheers for the reply Ben,
Your advice is perfect, and in another situation I would follow it
completely...
However, there are one or two problems/extra bits...
1.) This is in a Fiat Seicento, nowhere up front to fit a set of components,
unless I go through the hassle of building my own door pods and beleive me,
I'm crap with fibre glass..
2.) The 6x9s are running off the back of the cross-over on the amp, so they
aren't dealing with too many of the low notes, I know this isn't a perfect
situation, but it suits my budget!!!
3.) The 6x9s are living under a stealth shelf and cannot be seen from
outside of the car, neither can any of the rest of my stereo.. so no
thieving little toe rag can see what's in the car if passing.. .
At the end of the day, I'm not massively after SQ, I mean come on, I'm using
a boschman amp!!
I know people may put me into the whole max power group of having bass and
nothing else, but I do enjoy my bass!!! The 6x8's will be free, and I
thought that it might be worth adding a bit more mid and high to try to
combat the additional bass provided by the Raptors.. .
So the real question, is how should I go about wiring up what I want to put
in my car...
Cheers,
W

At present I have the following installed in my car...
Kenwood KDC 5080 CD Head Unit
Kenwood KDC C717 10 Disk Changer
Kenwood KFC 1028C 4" Co-ax's
Kenwood KFC 6907 6 x 9's
JBL 12" Sub (can't quite remember details, not important if you read
on)
Boschman V6 600 Watt 4 Channel Amp
This is in my 99 Seicento Sporting...
I've been offered a pair of DB Audio Raptor 12" subs, and there's a
chance
of a pair of Pioneer 6x8's as well....
What I'm keen on the Raptors and the other speakers to be honest, but
I've
started thinking about whether my amp is going to be able to cope...
What
I intend to do is fabricate somewhere for the 6x8's to live in the rear
panels and keep the 6x9s in the shelf...
obviously at the moment, the amp is running a pair of 4 ohm 6x9's and a
single 4 ohm sub... how best would I be to wire up the whole kit and
caboodle (2 x 12's, 2 x 6x9's and 2 6x8's) ?? or would I be better off
considering a new amp, bearing in mind that finances are really rather
tight
at the mo!
Apologies for the long post, any help would be really appreciated..
TIA,
Question, why are you running 6x9's AND subs? This is somewhat counter
productive, the 6x9's will only be working against your subs, poisoning
the
sound quality and dragging the soundstage right to the back of the car,
and
less face it, do you go to a gig and stand with your back to the
performers?
+ 6x9's on the rear shelf is just begging for some little toe rag to pop
your glass and nick the whole lot.
Keep it simple, good co-ax's or components up the front, amped, either
nothing or some simple co-ax runing from the hu for rear fill in the back
and then 1 / 2 subs in the boot. Simple, clean, sounds good, stealth
enough
for someone not to break in and swipe it all.
Forget the 6x8's, unless you want to drag the soundstage even further
back.
You never know, you might even be able to make a bit of money if you take
my
suggestion and sell off some of that excess gear.
Regards
