Default Panasonic Mp3 head unit

I am planning to buy either of these two head units.

panasonic Cq dfx683 - £ 130

panasonic Cq dfx783 - £ 170

has anyone got any complaints or comments about these two head units?

anyone seen them cheaper elsewhere?

I am fitting them to a Renault Clio btw.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry cant help with the head unit.. got the CQDFX383 in my van, but it's a
good unit even if it is the lowest of the mp3 head units panasonic do.

BUUUUT, i'm fitting a remote stalk to my van to controll the stereo, and the
stalk i've used came out of the renault clio.. 2000 model i think (it's the
rounded stalk)
i got it from the scrap yard, and now i need an adaptor to enable me to use
the clio's stalk with the panasonic stereo.. no probs as thy're readibly
available.. except to order one i need to know which stereo was in the car i
got the stalk from.. scrap yard cars have their stereo's removed as soon as
they come in.

Does your clio have the origional stereo without the remote display by any
chance??

basicaly i've found out that the remote stalk is the same.. fitted to
clio's, laguna's, kangoo's and so on, and on some from about 1996 onwards,
it's just the connector on the end that's different for the different cars
and stereo's,
so i got a couple of different connectors off other scrapped clio's, but i
still dont know which plug belongs to which stereo,

i've made a web page up showing the connectors i have,
http://www.kampenwagen.co.uk/stereo%20remote.htm
anychance when you pull your stereo, you could tell me if one of the
connectors shown on that page match, and if so what stereo you have please??

i think i need to use the white double row connector.. like an ISO connector
but with 2 more pins, as i think that's from a clio that had a blaupunkt
stereo in it, with no remote display, but i cant be 100% sure, and no one
who sells the adaptors is willing to get off their arses and look at the
packet the adaptor is in and tell me what kind of socket it has to take the
stalk plug,

it seems to confuse the hell out of them that i'm fitting a stalk to a van
that never had a stalk fitted in the first place, they keep asking me for
the make of stereo in my van.. which is a panasoinc.. it never had one
before.. then they say 'but it must have had a stereo origionaly to have a
remote stalk fitted' at that point i run around the room screaming and they
hand up.

Hi all,

I am thinking about buying a Panasonic CQRDP383 unit, and am trying to
find out about how to use the existing remote stalk in my Laguna.

Does anyone know what I need to get to do this? Is there an adapter
which you can buy?

My existing radio is the one which comes as standard, a Blaupunkt
(4x15W)

I'd really appreciate any help or advice from anyone about this.

Cheers,
Renaultcarman

oh yeah so it is....yeah it came to 142 quid or sumthin.

although the 383 is prob a good head unit, I am willing to spend another 40
for the 683. Just cos I have the extra money. Btw..I read in some
american reviews that the 683 and the 783 have slow folder loading aswell
and they suffer from some problems. Chances are that the 383 is also gonna
have these problems.

check this link for the review of 783 and then find the 383 for yourself.

well a friend of mine just got his 383 and says that there are no pauses
between tracks. i trust his opinion since we both saw the sony unit that WAS
slow together. im not sure about initial loading though.

anyways, cheers for the heads up. 100 quid for a panasonic mp3 player isnt
that bad, esp considering the car its going in!
