CD Text on Pioneer head unit ?

I have a Pioneer DEX-P99R,
which fails to display any CD Text.

It also has this strange thing where radio station RDS info,
is right aligned, and usually missing characters off to the right.
There's certainly space on the matrix display but it doesn't scroll across.

I also can't get it to access the CD Name menus.

Anyone else had problems with this or similar Pioneer head unit ?
