Default Ford 6000CD Firmware update????

has anyone ever seen or produced any updates for the Ford 6000cd for
instance to make it able to play mp3 files from a cd or other such
stuff???

You've been watching too many films. It wouldn't be possible to add MP3
functionality just like that.

This is generally not possible on this radio (or any others I would
think) - the MP3 decoding needs a much more powerful DSP chip to do
the decoding.

It has been done before but only on certain units as a firmware update
via cd. There was a foriegn website with patches and instructions for
other units. also the 6000 cd should be able to do this as it
recognises cd roms and on some fords is used to load updates to the
satnav system via cd rom.

NO, it's not possible. I know this radio inside out, and believe me,
it cannot work. Firmware upgrade via CD-Rom is also not possible on a
6000.
There is an MP3 version of this radio available, which has an
additional DSP, circuitry, software, MP3 license etc. to do the
decoding. It costs £100 more than the normal unit when you buy a new
Ford Focus.
