Does anyone else have a Kenwood KDC-PSW9527?
I have a Kenwood KDC-M4524G and it suffers from a similar problem, it either
will not sync to the correct time, or else lose anything up to a few minutes
to a few hours. sometimes it corrects itself, sometimes not.
Hard to understand really, you'd think that if it was losing the RDS time
signal it would just stay at the existing time, i.e. the time would just
drift out over a period by a few minutes or so, *not* lose the time
entirely.
My old Philips CAR400 radio/cassette, in the same car, worked perfectly.

Hi All,
Has anyone else out there bought a Kenwood KDC-PSW9527 head unit? It
is a new model for 2004-2005, with Dolby Pro-Logic II processing,
which does a very good job of changing the usual "sound from all over
the place" you get in a car into "sound coming from 2 virtual speakers
sitting on the bonnet" - very impressive, and well worth the money.
Anyway, the reason I ask is that I bought one a couple of weeks ago,
and ended up sending it back to the dealer, as it really struggled to
set its clock from the RDS time signal - my previous Kenwood HU (Z838)
would sync the clock in a couple of minutes without fail - the 9527
managed it once after over an hour, and never managed it again.
The dealer tested it, and agreed with me that setting the clock was
rather iffy. They then tried a different 9527 from their stock and
discovered it had exactly the same problem.
So, I'm wondering if every 9527 has a slightly below-spec tuner chip,
or if the dealer and I were both unlucky. I love the 9527, and I want
one - the dealer has refunded my money, and I'm wondering if it is
worth trying another dealer, or if all the initial batch are faulty
and I need to wait a bit, or if the fundamental design of the 9527 is
flawed and none of them will ever sync the clock properly. I've
emailed Kenwood, but they aren't aware of any problems with this
model.
So, does anyone out there have a 9527 that *can* sync its clock from
the RDS signal? I'd love to hear from you...
Cheers,
Simon
