Hi All,
I recently changed a 2002 Punto for a 2004 Punto (meaning it is the new
shape/model compared to the 2002).
I had a Sony CDX-MP30 in the 02 and expected a simple swap over using same
ISO harness in the 04 that I had in the 02. However, when I fitted the
Sony
into the 04 I got no response at all - no power to the unit.
Might the unit have been damaged during the simple unplugging and
replugging
or is there a different wiring config in the newest Puntos? I'm not
looking
forward to having to buy another MP3 player so obviously I'm hoping it's
the
latter.
IF it IS the latter, can anyone help me with reconfiguring the wiring? I
know very little about car audio systems but I'm assuming (hoping) it
would
be a simple matter of changing the "slots" around on the harness (if
harness
is the correct word here)?
My hope of simply matching up wire colours was a non-starter as the
Punto's
wiring has a completely different set of colours to the harness. Also, the
new Punto has one wire extra compared to the harness - although I don't
know/remember if this was the case on the old(er) Punto.

04 Puntos have CAN BUS wiring so there's no ignition live to the ISO plug.
You will have to connect both the red and yellow from the Sony to the
permanent live in the ISO plug or rewire a new ignition live from the fuse
box, or buy a CAN converter (around £100) which will convert the CAN signal
to a conventional ignition live, lights on live etc.
