Default Sub enclosure

I have recently purchased an Alpine CDA-9833 and am now looking for a sub
for it. I'm currently using the factory fitted speakers (4x midrange + 4x
tweeters) which sound great for high and midrange but are obviously
struggling with the bass. What I am planning to do is to leave the factory
speakers in, add a sub and using the head unit crossover to stop low
frequency stuff going to the factory speakers. Is this a good idea? As for
the sub, I would like is something where the amp and sub are contained in
the same inclosure so I can easily remove it all if I need the boot space.
Can anybody recomend something that would satisfy what I am looking for? If
I cannot get this as one package I am willing to by the seperates and
assemble them myself, so any recomendations for a good combination of amp
and sub would also be good. At the end of the day I'm not looknig to spend a
fortune on this, probably max £250.

thanks

Gav
