Default Kenwood KGC 9042 DIN input

I am fitting a Kenwood 7070R HU with the above graphic. My older HU's
had a din output, but the 7070 has two phono outs. The 9042 has phono's
and a DIN input (8 pin iirc). Is there any benefit to finding or making
a lead to use the DIN or are the straight phono connectors the same?

The problem with the phono outs on the HU is that they render the fader
inoperative, instead relying on the graphic equaliser's fader instead?

Whilst on the subject, my ancient C400 changer is on it's way out, and
since I use a lot of MP3's is there a changer/mp3 player that is
compatible with the 7070R?

The DIN connectors are for fitting a CD-changer. Use the Phonos.

That's cos they're "non fading" preouts. Newer headunits have both fading
and non-fading, and/or switchable preouts.

Just use the equaliser's fader instead - that's what you're fitting it for !

fine.

However, you'd be better off spending that £200 on a new MP3-capable
head-unit - it's much less cumbersome, and it'll have the extra preouts so
you can connect things properly. Something like a
