Default Stereo in new mini

A friend has been quoted close to 300 quid to add a cd changer to the tape
HU in her new mini.

Given that you can get a nice kenwood HU with changer for just over 200 I've
suggested that as a better option.
Are there any nasty surprises lurking in store for me if I do end up fitting
one?
Do they have standard ISO connectors?

If she has the Radio "BOOST" option on her mini, then the changer lead will
be presentin the boot. Alas the matching Mini changer is as you say close to
300quid. If it doesnt have the boost, then it will be closer to 400quid.

If she bought the car new, why didnt she have the changer option specified?
Its madness not to at only £120!!!

Tim..

Apparently the cable is already present , but even £300 is over the top for
just a changer

It was 12 months old when she bought it.

I got a Pioneer WMA/MP3/CD player, £250, fitted a few weeks after getting the Mini. That way you
don't loose any boot space and can still have about 12 albums to hand.

The connectors are standard BMW parts so about £15 for a converter.

Ditch the standard unit and upgrade.
If you've got the standard radio/cassette unit then you need an aerial adaptor, connector and a
fascia plate - about £35 for these bits. So you loose the ability to playback cassette's but CD's
are sooo much more flexible.
