Default What Sub & amp

I'm thinking of buying a 12" sub and amp for my 205.
Any suggestions what will give me the best sound?, I dont want to spend
over £200.00, less if possible and don't like Sony.
Another thing i'm wondering about is would it be best buying 1 x Alpine Type
R sub or for the same money 2 x JBL's. Have got Kicker components in the
front and JBL 6x9's on the parcel shelf.

Any advice very appreciated.

John

MotorWorld do a JBL 10" sub for £30, with a matching enclosure for £40.
I have one of these fitted in a 2001 Audi A4, and it can make the entire
car shake! So it'll be ample for a 205.

10" will generally give you tighter bass than a 12" as the cone doesn't
flex so much. 12" would make more noise, but a 10" can be driven to
levels that are uncomfortable in my A4, my previous car (A3) and a Fiesta...

and don't like Sony.

Speakers or electronics?

Their speakers aren't bad - I replaced the factory fit speakers in my
Fiesta with Sony custom fit, co-ax rear and component front, and it
sounded very good. Although the factory fit speakers in the A4 are better!

Was going to suggest going for a Sony XM4060 (£135 from MCS Direct)
running in 3ch mode, 2x125W to the fronts and 300W to the sub. Leave the
rears running off the head unit as the quality improvement wouldn't be
worth the extra expenditure of a 5ch amp.
