Default Output?

Can an RCA cable with phono outputs that is used to go to connect to the amp
be used for outputting to a laptop or other device with line in? For
recording etc?

Thanks

Providing you don't want to record direct from a turntable, then yes.
If your source is a turntable, you will need an RIAA pre-amp. Try
Maplin or similar.

Providing secondly that the laptop does have a line-in rather than the
more common microphone input. Even then, a resistive pad can be used to
drop the level and produce acceptable (in most cases ;-) ) results.

Your recording device will need an input level control of some sort.
