Default Best in car MP3 solution?

Have you considered a car computer?

I have got a VW Golf mk V and would like to get an MP3 player for it,
but dont want to change the head unit.

I would like to get some kind of MP3 player that connects into the CD
Changer port. I dont really want a CD based solution and it is
important that the menu system is flexible and easy to use.

The ideal solution is the Phat Noise player which has an excellent
interface (see the website)...

...but it is quite expensive (£600)

...and if you want it for a VW then it has to be sold via a VW dealer
(Phat Noise have some kind of arrangement with them), but my VW dealer
tells me that they will only fit them to brand new cars at the
factory!

Can anyone recomend a way of getting MP3s in car with the following
requirements...

1) Keep existing VW head unit.
2) Not CD based MP3
3) At least 4GB capacity
4) Flexible menu interface
5) Doesnt need to be factory fitted when car is new!

Thanks for any help!
