Default Can this be Done ??

Hi

ok i got a Pioneer Avic x1 sat\nav head unit, the internal drive can play
dvd, cd and mp3 (on cd), i also have a Pioneer cdx-p670 cd changer fitted
(non mp3), the two
units are wired useing the IP BUS system.
When i try to play an mp3 cd in the changer i do not get
any info up on the display, is this cos there is no id3 tag
info gettin to the head unit, as the cd changer is not mp3 ?

As far as i know Pioneer dont do an cd\mp3 changer!!!

Well what iam thinking is, if i can mod the cd changer with
maybe a sort of id3 tag decoder and feed this back up to
the head unit, would it come up on the display ??

Also does anyone know that when u select "ext" changer
do it bypass the int mp3 decoder in the head unit ??.

can anyone help with any diagrams for cd\mp3 cd changer and just plain cd
changer, to see how things are done ???

Any help or advice most welcome.
Thanks
Howard

As my basic understanding goes, it's because the changer is simply
unable to read the mp3 CDs. Think about it like this: If you have a
house stereo (not able to play mp3s) and a portable CD player (mp3
capable), you can play mp3's through the stereo by plugging the
portable into the house system because the portable is doing the
reading of the actual disc. If you try and do it the other way around,
the house stereo is simply going to say that the disc is unreadable. I
have NO CLUE why I just used a house stereo analogy in a car audio
forum, but it seems to make sense...
