Default zafira interference when moving

Hi guy's

I wrote this on another forum and got pretty much nowhere...

"I only listen to R5 so medium wave it is. On FM it's fine

I recently bought a s/h Zafira. All was well in London town as I drove home
but as I got further away the interference became intollerable.
I tried both frequencies and it was drowned out by the noise.

However when I stop the noise stops. If I drive very slowly you can hear it
clicking which speeds up as the car does.

I took it to a local car hifi specialist -who has been in business for
donkey's- and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "dunno,it's probably
the engine management system best take it to the dealers"

Not quite the answer I was looking for...........

I understand that DAB is probably the way forward in the long term but if
anyone has got some idea on this I'd love to hear..."

so assuming that this is beyond mans technical abilities I guess that I must
consider DAB.

What unit should I go for Bluespot Grundig whatever.?

How easy/difficult are they to fit esp as the Zafira has a 'reflecting'
windscreen with only a little patch at the top

what extras would I need -re wiring etc and are they easily available..??

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
slight update which may/maynot shed some light..

I have a pda gps which although BT requires charging. I found on my old car
it was best to hardwire to a perm live so it's always charging and I can
leave it on constantly.

so I popped out the radio to find perm.live earth.

I found them and just to check put a meter -and here's the crux- found the
earth has a resistance of 16.5 ohms to the crossmember behind the radio and
65 ohms to the door closer.

These strike me as high and wonder if the earth isn't quite what it should
be

any ideas??

cheers

richard
