Default DVD MP3 players

Hi all,

I'm looking for a head unit that can play MP3 from a DVD. So far the
JVC KD-AVX1 seems to be the only option :-

Just wondering if anyone knows of any others. I don't care about
video, but I do want a decent display showing ID3 etc.

Cheers,

Colin.

You don't come here often do you.

I got my hands on one of the above for the first time today, and for
what it costs, it's actually pretty impressive. The only minor
disappointment I've found so far is that it doesn't appear to have a
front centre output, but that may just be me overlooking something.

There's also a couple of Alpines due in the next few months -
DVA-9860R and DVA-9965R.

I think given the fact that PC DVD recorders can now be picked up for
under £30, this has got to be the next big step forward for car MP3.

True. I normally hang around for a bit when I fancy a new car stereo,
funnily enough ;o)

Looks encouraging. I was beginning to think JVC were the only people
who did it. Nice price too. The only down-side seems to be the
one-line display. Perhaps I'll wait a bit and see if someone comes out
with something somewhere between the two.

Cheers,

Colin.

Hmm, I like the look of those. I wonder how much they'll be...

But when are you going to get your hands on the new Sony DAB thingy?
July still?

The most we can get out of Sony is "June". It's not showing on their
dealer system as yet, so we can't confirm whether it's likely to
arrive as anticipated.

As it stands, I'd anticipate the DVA-9860R selling online for
somewhere in the region of £375. The 9965 price is still "TBA" at the
moment.

Well even that'd be better, but I was thinking more of a halfway house
between the one-line on the Sony and the full video monitor on the
JVC.

Actually, I'm warming to the video monitor idea now. I like the
thought of putting on a couple of T-junction cameras.

Hmmm.... If only I had a bit more spare time.

Cheers,

Colin.
