Default Maintaining remote stalk with Ford and Alpine

Why does this seem so complicated? Trawling the web there are a
plethora of adapters to connect my remote stick to an Alpine 9846 - in
each case usually two seem to be necessary. Why is this so? Surely all
I need is one adapter to connect a remote stick to the back end of an
Alpine unit? And which is the branded Alpine one? I get the impression
that a lot of these companies are creating their own - possibly the
reason I need two

Can anyone point me in the direction of a web page to solve my
questions?? Have checked out http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ and
http://caraudiosecurity.com/ but they are both listing different
connectors - aaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh!!!!

Bear with sore head....

One's a universal non-brand specific interface for the car, and the
other then converts the connection on that to whichever style of
connector is used on the relevant brand of head unit.

What age is the vehicle?

Hi Jon - the car is a 52 reg Mondeo, (12/2002). If one is non brand
specific am I to assume then that there is no such thing as a genuine
Alpine remote lead?

You should just need a PC99-X07 and a PC99ALP in that case. There are
genuine leads, but they're generally more expensive than the Autoleads
equivalent.

Thanks for all your help Jon - you were right (of course), the leads
you mentioned were all that I needed.

Ordered the stereo and leads from http://www.incarexpress.com

All works perfectly and arrived very quickly. Have saved myself a few
quid over local dealers suggesting that I had to use Alpine leads at
£70!!! And the stereo worked out a good £40 cheaper than local
dealers too.

Many thanks
