Default Maintaining remote stalk with Ford and Alpine

Why does this seem so complicated? Trawling the web there are a
plethora of adapters to connect my remote stick to an Alpine 9846 - in
each case usually two seem to be necessary. Why is this so? Surely all
I need is one adapter to connect a remote stick to the back end of an
Alpine unit? And which is the branded Alpine one? I get the impression
that a lot of these companies are creating their own - possibly the
reason I need two

Can anyone point me in the direction of a web page to solve my
questions?? Have checked out http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ and
http://caraudiosecurity.com/ but they are both listing different
connectors - aaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhh!!!!

Bear with sore head....
