Default Kenwood Z838W - repair or replace?

Hi,

I've had this head unit for a couple of years now and it has been great but
it has developed a fault.

It has constant mini drop outs (just split second but noticeable) on all
radio stations and the cd playback drops out to either silence or a
screeching sound with bumps in the road - requiring the dash to be thumped
to get it playing again (though still with minor dropouts)

So question is - as good as this unit has been and as expensive as it was -
is it worth repairing? And if so where and what is the likely cost?

I have had it apart and checked all plug+socket connectors etc. and can
confirm it is an internal fault which can be triggered by tapping the
circuit boards.

Thanks in advance for any comments

Robert.
