Thanks for reply Martin.
Rang VW dealer in Dublin where car was bought. Its out of warranty by 3
months so that option is out.
I can't see any small hole on front.I tried to remove disc with a tool
and the disc came out automatically. It seems like the 'take in' and
'eject' mechanism is ok but there's no signal from the 'Eject'
button.Suggests maybe the actual button is faulty or a wire from it??
Is the CD player/Radio difficult to remove from dash? Are specialist
tools needed?

Any help appreciated.
Cheers.

VW Golf.

Players often have a small hole on the front for 'no power' ejects, you
usually poke an opened out paper clip or similar into it. However if

ROI is
the same as the UK, your car should still be in warranty, so the dealer
should sort it for free.

a small knife can usually do the trick
