Two questions:

Firstly does this unit have Unilink? I currently have an MDX-66LP MD
changer and Connects2 iPod adaptor hanging off the Unilink bus on my
head unit (MDX-CA580). It appears to... but can someone confirm this?

Secondly what's the sound quality like in comparison to the MDX-CA580
I'm using currently?

Yes. The only thing it doesn't have which you old unit may have done
is Custom File, but I suspect very few people ever bothered titling
discs themselves anyway. It does however have CD text support.

It has the newer internal amp with BBE, much higher S/N ratio, etc,
so it ought to sound better than your current unit.

I sold my CD changer with Custom File (CDX-757) to a friend anyway, and
I now use a Connects2 iPod adaptor. Have got an MDX-66LP minidisc
changer, but to be honest I don't think I've actually used this since
installing the iPod adaptor.

So I might get away without needing an offboard amp for the front speakers?

I previously had a JBL GTO-4000 amp powering the front and extra subs,
the rears powered from Audi's active system. New car's on the way,
should have it Thursday with any luck.

Will give it a go anyway, can always fiddle and reinstall the JBL amp if
needed. I've ordered one from your good self (you may have seen the
order come through this morning) so will see what it's like on its
internal amp.
