Default Octavia CD changer compatibility

We have a 5/2004 Octavia 1.9TDi fitted with a Skoda-badged Grundig
radio, plus a boot mounted 6-stack CD changer.

Anyone tell me (a) make and model of the changer (or for that matter
how to get the damn thing out so I can look see myself!) and (b) if it
has compatibility with any other make of head unit.

I would like to replace the head with something rather more
sensitive - if it happens to have steering control compatibility
and/or mp3 disc capability so much the better, The ability to drive
the changer would be the tops?

It won't work with anything else.

Sorry , you'll have to buy a new cd changer as well , but it's well worth
doing as the factory fit Skoda stereo is abysmal

Can you give me any clues on how to remove the changer - it has
baffled me!

There's some tiny black screws buried in the black carpet that covers the
metal case round the changer. Two on either end IIRC.
