Default Help! sony nw hd1 and connect2 adapter

I've been given a new headunit which has just about every feature I could
want! currently have in my vw golf 2001 a gamma head unit with a connects2
adapter so I can connect my mp3 (atrac3) player via a cable, basically acts
a a cd changer.

No as I'm removing my gamma unit and putting the new one in how to the heck
am I going to access my sony player ?

If any more details are needed plase post back and let me know and I'll
provide them.

Bit of a nightmare really as I have tons of music on it!

What is the make and model of the new stereo that you are replacing
the VW Gamma unit with?

when i did this a while ago I had to change to a Sony head unit to go
with the sony specific connect2. If your replacement head unit is not a
Sony it may well not work.

I had a cable to connect to the MP3 player - in my case an NWHD5. This I
fed out to the glove box so I could get easy access to the mp3 player.

Its an unbranded in car dvd with radio functions etc. One of those that fit
in a DIN slot. Heres the one :

Thats interesting ... I spoke to a guy who installs in car entertainment
systems and he said sometimes they can hook it up to the cd changer output
but a lot of the time cross pollination is not possible.

He did suggest buying a sony headunit that supports the connects2 but a bit
late as I've bought this one in the post above this.

Not oging to be able to find out for sure till I give the install a go at
the weekend.

The unit you have linked has an aux-in, so you will at least have an
audio input via a 3.5 - 3.5mm jack plug from the Sony headphone
output.

So you think I will be able to connect the sony player using the headphone
jack to the heapdhone socket on the unit ?

I gather I will need to remove all the connect2 adapters ?

Also will there be any sound quality loss ?

Yeah the unit you linked has an aux-in. Depending on what connector it
has you should be able to go from the headphone socket on the Sony
player (3.5mm jack) to the aux-in on the new stereo (3.5mm jack or RCA
connectors).
Sound quality should be as good as it is a direct connection. Remove
the Copnnects2 stuff, you will have no control from the new stereo
over the Sony player, it is an audio only connection.
