Have you tried emailing sony? I wouldn't expect them to have protocols
on
their main site - not of general interest to consumers, but they /might/
be more helpful if they hear you want to make them new software for free
(assuming it'd be freeware) that'd work on more diverse platforms

It's a long shot but a few big companies are starting to realise how
helping open source helps them.


Won't they insist that all that OpenMG bollox be incorporated thereby
screwing up what could be useful software?

Well Sony are aware of OS software, they do have a official Linux kit
for PS2's

The Sony PS2 division has a few people who are clued in, that says nothing of how the
other divisions are gifted in that area.
