Wilmslow Audio.

Tell your friend to get a bigger amp
and to stop clipping!

What are the drivers?

Ah! I forgot about them. I used to live near Wilmslow in the 80s when
WA were just a hi-fi shop. I am still using the speakers I bought
there in '86. It is time for an upgrade, I think, hence the OBSes.

I don't know what the original drivers were as my friend had replaced
them with cheapo Maplin units. Ho hum.

BTW, he ran a huge power amp, a Musical Fidelity unit, IIRC, to the
OBSes originally. All his speakers are sans HF units due to being
played too loudly while he played games. Yes, I have moaned copiously
about this to him many times.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply, Roger. A peaceful New Year to
you.

The buggers are following me around. They are now between
Leicester and Coventry. 01455 286603. Only a little place.
I think the Knutsford shop was the best.

What about the speakers?
Are they boxless open baffles?

I Googled them. I didn't know they had moved again. Thanks anyway,
Roger.

Yes, the midrange/treble is open; the bass is closed box. These units
sounded superb before their unfortunate "accident". I have always
lusted after SD Acoustics SD1s - the OBSes are the closest thing I'll
ever get to them, I think. Ever since I have known their orginal owner
- 1992 - I have wanted his speakers. I am so thrilled he has
bequeathed them to me.

I have a set of Mk 2, SD1's sitting in my garage, that I keep thinking
I must sell. Superb speakers, just too big for the room I have now,
so suprplus to requirements.

Let me know if you're interested.
