it'll improve though - its not like its incapable of better data rates - and they can transmit any data, its only a serial stream... (why mpeg layer 2 audio baffles me though...)

Really?, Better data rates?, is been a downward spiral since it started.
Stations in Mono at 64 K/bits?, not my idea of quality.
MP2 was about the only thing around at the time and one of its great
shortcomings ins the fixed codec's in use;-(

That ain't the only downside, believe you me - as you're 'local' I will
repeat (yet again) that Shiny Nigel from A N Audio (St Neots) stood with his
mouth hanging open the first time he heard my valves and vinyl and said
'what have we done to audio for the last 30 years - we've only made it
WORSE' (or words to that effect and that was a few 'generations of decks and
carts and phono stages ago!)!!!* And he's tit-deep in audio gear including
Krell** (from time to time) amd JBL Paragons***!

'Bout time a few people round here woke up and realised that 'digital
everything' is being ground down globally to make it easier to lift Joe
Public's wallet and true 'audiophiles' are paying through the nose just
trying to make sense of it.

Explanation - £40 DVDP vs. £4,000 CDP.......!!?? How TF can that make any
sense? (Doesn't even make sense with turntables where at least you see where
the workmanship has/hasn't gone into the product!)


*Maybe it was just the music - the crap he brought round here for me to, er,
'sample' wasn't up to much I can tell you!

**Not that I thought much of it - I only use that as an example as people
(who should know better) can be impressed by it.

***Nor these (at £2,800) for that matter - they've still got these in, go
and see for yourself just how bland they can sound....
