: Whoa!!!! You want to convert a red book CD (16 bit 44.1KHz
sampling
: frequency) to DVD-A which usually starts at 24/48 and goes
up 24/192.
:
: Indeed - I know that...
:
: However 44.1/16 is suported and should therefore work fine.

: You keep talking about DVD-Audio when you really (I think)
mean DVD-V
: compliant formats.
:
: Well, it depends on how much you want to squeeze onto the DVD.
If
: your are not planning on using MLP to compress the data, you
can use
: the DVD-V audio space to put lots of 16/44.1 music on it. If
you hope
: to squeeze more onto the disc, you graduate to the MLP/DVD-A
spec
: which requires different software for burning and is playable
only on
: a DVD-A player.

Since the usual CD is only 600-700Mb and a DVD-R is 4.7 Gb he can
fit 6-7 CDs on a DVD-R without loss of quality.

At this point in time there is really only one thing left say
"Roll on Blu-Ray" Recordable ;-).

*BUT* there is always a but I do believe the way we will listen
to and store our music/video in the future will be more like this
http://www.slimdevices.com/ With the price of storage media
plummeting I am considering something like this but it must do
video as well.
