iPod beater???

Just the thing for a weekend of uninterrupted music. I wonder what
"compressed at 48 Kbps" means for sound quality.

Just the thing for a weekend of uninterupted music at the quality of
my digital answer machine. 48kps...... don't make me laugh!

I'll stick to my iPod, which also I'll point out to Sony, has no
external moving parts.

Eh? It's got switches on it (moving parts, surely?) and a hard drive
inside...

Yes, hence the word EXTERNAL. The entire design of the iPod mk2 works
on a touchwheel and button. This controls EVERYTHING, volume, track
selection, the lot. The headphones have an inline volume and track
selector buttons but don't offer any extra functions that can't be
access from the main unit.

The only exception on the main unit is a tiny switch which disables
the wheel and button to stop accidental pressing.

Simply stunning bit of design, and still the best sounding player on
the market.
