Default SONY HAR-LH500

I recently purchased the HAR-LH500 and installed the M-Crew software
onto my laptop (HP Omnibook 900, Win2K. A wireless peer to my desktop)
but.........

If I run the s/w (Ver 2.6E) without the LH500 connected I get informed
of the siuation. When I run the s/w with the LH500 connected by USB,
I get a message to the effect 'Fatal Error - switch off (not to sure
on the message). After this, if I restart I get the opening panel
freezing.

I've removed all other USB drivers, downed the LAN but still can not
get The LH500 talking to the PC (or is it visa versa?).

Any ideas?

I was filled with horror when I read another thread stating that the
s/w on the Sony was corrupted by the link. Do you think that might be
my problem?

I had problems getting it working too,
I found (thanks to this group) that my smart card reader was the problem.
M-Crew has to refer to the first removeable drive, fiddleing with drive
letter assignments solved it for me.
