Default CD needs replacing

My long serving but enjoyable Philips CD610 looks to be nearing death - one
of the teeth on the drive cog that opens and closes the drawer has broken
off - if another adjacent goes as well that will be the drawer stuck.

I'm wondering if now might be opportune to get a DVD. Anyone out there know
of a machine that doesn't cost the earth but does play CD music at least
tolerably? Half decent picture quality would be a bonus.

The Yamaha NV10 has been suggested but I understand is now obsolete even
though Richers do have some left.

All thoughts gratefully received.
