Default Noisy platter Project Debut 2 Turntable

Hi,

I have just bought a Project Debut 2 Turntable to transfer my LPs to
CD. However, I note on the silent passages on the recording I can
hear noise from the platter of the turntable as it turns. Is this
common, or do I have faulty turntable.

Thank you for any any advice you can give
Regards
Darren.

Mine is two years old and is VERY quiet, so I suspect you may have a duff bearing or something.
Return to shop for a checkup at least.

Mine has always been like that, so I took it back to the shop and couldn't
hear anything. Ho-hum, that's life. Sill there though, and so annoying I
got a Linn Basik off eBay. It's a sort of high-pitch, tinny rumble.

Darren, take the thing back like David suggests - mine is new, and I've been
raping it since I got it. At no point have I heard a rumble coming through
(though my amp is't particularly high end)...

I take it you've used the counterweight to take some of the pressure of the
needle from the weight of the arm?

Take the thing back for peace of mind!
