Default Advice - Pre Amp - with remote control

Hi,

I'm looking for a high quality preamp, but it must have remote control and
tone controls. Would prefer valve but would consider tranny.
Usual array of inputs with upto 750mv output.

What would you recommend?
New or s/hand or vintage.

Thanks.

Forget the Tone controls (Balance control is much more useful) and get a
conrad-johnson Premier 17LS2.

(If you don't like it, I'll take it off your hands for a decent secondhand
price.... :-)

Agreed. Find a pre-amp that sounds right to start off with.

About a year ago I changed my Alchemist Forseti pre for an Audiolab 8000Q
because I wanted remote control. After a day I realised that I didn't want
remote control *that* badly and I switched back to the Alchemist.

Of couse, if I could find a remote control pre-amp that I liked the sound
