Jem, It's just possible that my wife will come to hate you.. Back in the days of my teens I used to build all kinds of stuff, turntable kits, speaker kits, Amps. One set of Wharfedale based speakers from around 1970 is still being used on an electronic organ by a friend of my parents. Amps included a Mullard based copy of a Leak 6W job ( which I wish I still had! ), a heavily modded 'Texan' & a Linsley Hood 75 to name but three. Over the years I've migrated to Linn/Audiolab/Mission integrated with a Denon based AV setup which gives me the best of both worlds.. Then you come along with your quarter wave speakers and home built amps and suddenly I can hear how sweet those low power valve jobs and simple speakers sounded.. Umm, and my mate around the corner has a pro quality wood cutting, moulding, routing all in one machine. So that's no problem.. Curse you sir ! :) T. That Texan design was great - still using mine! HiFi? No. If there's one thing worse than a full-range driver with a whizzer, it's an ex full-range driver with its whizzer cut off. :-) Thanks for the reference to the local electronics store. -- Roger. |

If you see him tell him you'd rather buy a coat. J |

I've seen him in various supermarket car parks in Coventry with his coats. Never seen his speakers though. -- Roger. |

No, it was Matthews in Hurst St or Sherlock St, Birmingham, depending on which page I looked at. Wilmslow audio is closer, but they don't sell much cheap stuff. -- Roger. |
