Default Portable MP3/CD recorder advice please

A lecturer friend has a query for ukra. All advice gratefully received.

Query:
I'm looking for portable equipment to record directly via microphone
either MP3 files or audio CD.
The primary use of the equipment would be to record lectures and
interviews and then to make them available on the web and on CD. For web
publication we would either need MP3 files to begin with or
readily-convertible digital files. This means that we have effectively
ruled out minidisc equipment - unless there are any minidisc recorders
that can export files in MP3 format (most MP3 minidisc recorders seem
only to be able to import MP3 - but I may be wrong about that).
So, I guess I'm looking for a portable MP3 recorder or a portable CD
recorder within my budget of under £200.

Anyone?...I'm interested in replies also.
What about one of the hand held digital voice recorders - are they any good
for such application?..eg Olympus DS-330

I think the IRiver IHP120 just about does it, although you'd be placing some
trust in the built in microphone.

Thanks for these suggestions. I have also been emailed with the
suggestion that he look at a Creative DAP Jukebox.

Any other ideas?
