should self destruct. But they were never designed as anything other than
a semi permanent connection - you'd need something like an XLR for mobile
etc use.

It depends on whether they had special parts made or used stock ones. All
I could suggest is a trawl through the various websites to see if anyone
does a similar type if it's PCB mount.

Maplin, RS, CPC and Rapid would be a good start.

Paul, does the 8000S have the same RCA connector problem?

As an aside (in response to another thread), any particular reason you
are looking for an 8000S?

Right. Do they look like bespoke connectors, or could they be changed for
a different make?

I'll take a look. Never heard of Rapid before.

Quite good value for some things. Website is newish and not 100% yet.

As an aside (in response to another thread), any particular reason you
are looking for an 8000S?


Yep. It has all the features I want, and not the ones I don't (balance
and tone) - it's a natural upgrade for my 8000A. I like that amp very
much but it's sonically inferior.

apparently the pre-amp section of the S is much better than the pre-amp
in the A. I have heard both amps before, but haven't done an A/B comparison.


The 'S' also has remote control

I agree, the mode switching is a cool feature. It allows various
configurations (subwoofer, external Dolby processor) to be used without
the hassle of switching the inputs on the back each time you use the amp
in a different mode.

I wonder how Audiolab would have coped with the Home Theatre age if they
weren't bought out by Tag. Be interesting to see what IAG does with the
Audiolab brand.

Shouldn't think it would be too difficult to find something that will
fit.

I'll take a look. Never heard of Rapid before.

It seems Tag is in new hands (they are apparently going to revert the
name back to Audiolab) so I'll try them.



Messers Swift and Scott haven't come back out of the woodwork then..have
they?...
