Default Question re turntables.

I need a new turntable and I'm considering an Acoustic Solutions SP131 on
sale at Richer Sounds for £99.95. I haven't been able to find a review of
this item and wonder whether anyone has any experience of it.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you look on www.ebay.co.uk and spend £100 you will do a lot better ;-)

If you're careful. I have an old Rega 3 with original S-shaped arm which
has both loose bearings and a knackered phono lead. I would like to replace
it with an RB250 or RB300 - prices of the former regularly reach £90 on
Ebay, plus delivery, yet a new arm only costs £124 ! Conversely, examples
of complete 3's with RB300s and a cartridge can occasionally sell for as
little as £150, although nearer £200 is the norm. I'd rate this a much
better buy, at around 50% of new price.

Ebay is a peculiar market-place.

Default Question re turntables.

Try a good Hi-Fi dealer with a secondhand dept. I picked up a Thorens 125,
with an SME arm & Shure V15 for £80 not so long ago.

Nice bargain ! I will keep an eye open, but to be honest, good hi-fi
dealers are thin on the ground, let alone those dealing in 2nd hand items.

Hi!

I agree, but Nick at the Emporium is pretty good I find. The web page is at

Audio Gold in Crouch End, London are pretty good - even have some B & O
stuff going (relatively) cheap....

For second-hand items visit a local Jumble Sale (or car Boot Sale) in an
affluent area of London - or elsewhere.

I picked up a Bang & Olufsen Beocenter PLUS a matching B & O CD Player
for £50.00 at our local Jumble.
