Default Cordless speakers to TV problem

Hi,
I want to connect cordless headphones to a TV, but most/all cordless
headphones plug into the headphone socket on the TV, which cuts out the
speakers. This is to allow my mother-in-law to hear the TV louder without
imposing on everyone else in the room.

She wants to be able to use the headphones in several houses, hence mods to
the TV itself are out. I know I could get round the problem by taking an aux
output from the TV and feeding into a Hi-Fi, but this would involve doing
this everywhere the headphones are used.

So far I've tried searching for cordless headphones which have aux inputs
(to allow connection to SCART etc) without luck. I assume that the output
level from SCART audio won't be enough to power headphones - am I right in
that assumption? I've found a headphone adaptor for video cameras which
takes the audio feed from the camera and provides an amplified signal for
headphones, but it is battery operated - and one set of batteries in the
headphones is enough to be faffing about with.

Any ideas gratefully received!!
