YaQin MC-10K Valve Amp Innards Pictures Up
In case anyone is interested, I've just put these up.
They show the insides of the amp. http://www.fleetie.demon.co.uk/yaqin.html Please don't visit more than once or twice each; I don't want my bandwidth allocation eaten up. Thanks. Martin |

Martin Very nice, especially for the price. I like the way they bothered to put the component value prints on the pcb (for manual board stuffing?) and they bothered to sleeve the wire of the two yellow caps but I wonder why they floating so high ;-) maybe if its not wave soldered then it could be some assembly workers overheated short leads with manual soldering :-) (there is always a reason why) The pcb appears good grade as well. What sort of info comes with the amp? |

What sort of info comes with the amp? That looks like a stereo jobbie in which case what one is the mains trannie and the O/P as one would expect two the same, unless their contained in the large can at the back?.... -- Tony Sayer |

They show the insides of the amp. http://www.fleetie.demon.co.uk/yaqin.html Very nice Martin - I can see why you are enjoying it, even if I can't hear it. Keep in mind those 6N5Ps have a rep for a tendancy to oscillation - see: http://www.klausmobile.narod.ru/testerfiles/6n5p.htm (I bet it's a hot little bugger in this weather though! ;-) Please don't visit more than once or twice each; I don't want my bandwidth allocation eaten up. OK, I'll try and restrain myself..... ;-) |

That looks like a stereo jobbie in which case what one is the mains trannie and the O/P as one would expect two the same, unless their contained in the large can at the back?.... It is stereo. The Huge toroidal in the middle is the mains xformer. There are (obviously, duhhh) 2 o/p xformers. One I left covered by the can, and the other I "uncanned" and you can see in the photos. It's not toroidal. They both sit near the back. As for the heat shrink on the yellow caps, the reason it doesn't reach down to the PCB is that I lifted it up. I was trying to check whether there was continuity between those leads and some other points in the circuit. They were originally right down to the PCB. Martin Thanks Mr Martin "toucans"...... -- Tony Sayer |

Thanks Mr Martin "toucans"......
Two cans? ? It's too damn hot sorry that went over my head i think. off to the garden with a bottle of nice cold white wine. I should be soldering my new resistors into it, but it's too hot to use a valve amp now anyway! it will wait! Martin |

amp now anyway! I agree - I sweated a bucket over my new amp, just ready to try out. That awful moment when you hope to get sound out of it. Completely OTT layout on two tiers of 19" racking - all brushed aluminium. Looks very industrial, which I like.
